At our library, we look for people with great customer service skills and a passion for library services to join our staff. We welcome people with all kinds of backgrounds, from engineering to liberal arts, retail to manufacturing. Our staff truly reflect the cultures and interests of our customers, and find strength in our diversity of skills and backgrounds.
Heights Libraries does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, color, sex, sexual orientation, age, or disability in admission or access to the operation of its programs, services, activities, or its own employment practices. It is our intention that all qualified applicants be given equal opportunity and that selection decisions be based on job-related factors.

Besides getting to work with a great staff, we offer our employees the following benefits.
The library offers medical, dental, vision , long term disability and life insurance coverage to full time employees.
The library provides a pick-up to the employee portion of Ohio Public Employees Retirement system costs.
Increases are determined each year by the Library Board of Trustees.
Earned Time Off
ETO is a combination of vacation, personal time and floating holidays. It is accrued each pay period.
Sick time accrues separately from ETO, and can be used for illness or doctor’s appointments.
The library provides many opportunities for staff members to take classes and workshops to increase their skills and performance.
Employees can apply to have tuition reimbursement for classes, certificate programs, and degrees from accredited institutions.
We welcome the opportunity to introduce students to public library work and believe such an experience should be mutually beneficial for both the student and the library. The Library Experience Program includes a general orientation to the library, various learning opportunities and the hands-on experiential activities needed to fulfill the requirements of your unpaid practicum or internship.
Our application process is a competitive one and we will select one or more students based on responses to questions on the Library Experience Program application. Please answer the questions in as much detail as possible. In addition, please attach a copy of any documentation from your school that specifies the expectations of this experience and a copy of your transcript showing the classes you’ve completed so far.
Please allow four weeks for us to review your application and other documentation. Decisions are made as soon as possible after receiving the application. If you are selected, we will contact you to set up a meeting with your assigned Library Experience Program supervisor to work out the details.
