Who are the CATS?

This page will introduce you to the CATS

Current CATS

Henry – I like to read fantasy books, especially books that are about other worlds. I also like books that have characters that aren’t all bad or all good. One of my favorite authors is Roald Dahl because there is some magic in his stories, but the magic doesn’t make everything better for the characters; they always have to do it themselves.

Kornela – There are many kinds of books that hold Kornela’s interest. But they’ve got to be good ones! Sometimes it’s a good story, other times it’s good characters that draw her in. Keep an eye out for reviews from Kornela from all over the map!

Dana – I am of the firm opinion that kids’ books are the best. I have learned all the important stuff from mice, talking beavers, wizards, and princesses. My favorite author, Madeleine L’Engle wrote, “… if the book will be too difficult for grown-ups, then you write it for children. I agree! I’m glad I get to share my favorite reads with you.

CATS of the past

Serena – I like to read everything. I have written a lot of my own poetry and short fiction and I am very drawn to reading these two kinds of writing. I am also a huge fan of literary fiction along with the writing of Virginia Woolf. Since I have become a Children’s Librarian, I read a lot of Juvenile Fiction (especially Fantasy and Realistic) along with picture books. Shannon Hale and Kate DiCamillo are two of my favorite juvenile authors. I love graphic novels and I adore the work of Marjane Satrapi. Like I said at the beginning, I like to read everything.

Robin – I’ve loved reading fantasy ever since I was little. Picture books are also great because I’ve never truly “grown up.” Since I’m a huge nerd I also get a kick out of graphic novels and comics (DC is preferred to Marvel). Even though I tend to stick to the genres I love, I also enjoy a good book in any genre.

Elizabeth – I like to read realistic fiction and/or realistic fiction with a dash of fantasy and magic. The better the character development and the writing, the better I like the book, no matter what the fiction genre. Because I do storytimes for babies and toddlers, I am also very drawn to picture books.

Shamekia – I really love picture books! They are typically a child’s first introduction into the world of reading, and even adults that don’t read often still have deep, emotional connections to picture books that were read to them as a child.
