We love it!
Henry often dresses up in costumes, and he brought a big container of sand along with shells to explore too.
Lots of art supplies and enthusiasm. Very inspiring and rewarding for all involved.
We’ve met many other kids and adults and have enjoyed seeing their creative responses too.

Thank you to Henry and Sarah for such enthusiastic energy that you share!
I hope such wonderful programming will continue.

Hi Sarah-
We had a great time at Explorastory today reading about birds.
Especially loved the song “5 little ducks went out one day” and the duck puppet.
Maeve got very involved with the art materials: paper, scissors, glue, markers, and especially lots of colorful feathers! End result: 4 cool ducks swimming in a cool duck world!
Thanks for the wonderful opportunity to explore with you and all the other kids and adults we met! We’ll be back!

What a remarkable program. These are times that young patrons–and you, too–will remember the rest of your lives. Kudos for being on the edge of such progressive programming.

It’s really exciting to get a comment from you, Andrea! Of COURSE your books are read in Ohio, Trashy Town is a storytime mainstay and Dig! was checked out right after we read it. I definitely see Digger Man making an appearance next week. Thanks for your great books and we all hope there are more on the way.

I’m happy to see that one of my books was read in Ohio– I was born in the Akron area. I went there to visit this summer and loved being there and seeing the childhood home of my own preschool years.
Maybe Digger Man would be enjoyed by your construction fans, too.

You have a good memory! Hattie had glued tiny red pom-poms on a paper and at the last minute declared it was “biking to the bakery with Daddy.” We’ve been talking about the places we like to go in the “neighborhood” (and the ways we get there) and I think the word shift helped her get it. She’s talked about going to friends’ homes, playgrounds, libraries, etc. The first time I felt like I over-helped her with identifying places; now she has her own ideas. It will be nice to return Friday.

That’s neat, thanks for sharing with us! Was Hattie’s project about going places on her bike? I think I remember something with red dots. I’m happy to hear that Hattie is expressing herself so much. Maybe we can do a project about how we get around in our community, too.

While it wasn’t clear that day, this project really stuck with Hattie (age 2 1/2). We have talked ever since about places she likes to go by stroller and by car, which has helped her better understand the concept of community. She is eager to return to Explorastory and add a few things to the community. Thanks for your thoughtful work!
