Dance Party at Lee Road!

Ready to kick those winter blues? Put on your dancing shoes! Swing by the Lee Road library Monday, December 29th at 3pm and learn how to Latin dance! No experience necessary!

On Tuesday, also at 3pm, we’ll be learning how to SWING!

And be sure to stop in Wednesday the 31st from 3-5pm for our Pre-New Years Dance Party. There will be PIZZA!

HeightsArts has Something for YOU…

There’s something here for everyone and financial aid is available to students 18 yrs and younger! Pick up a registration form in the teen room at Lee Road or call 371-3457 to register. Ages 8-12
How About Some Printmaking? With Nusrat Mehdi
Saturdays 10am - noon
January 10 – February 7

This class will introduce basic tools and vocabulary of printmaking and students will be encouraged to be creative and imaginative. At the end of the five week session, having focused on the techniques of monoprinting and collagraph, the students will leave with creative prints, collaged plates and tons of enthusiasm for the art of printmaking.
$70 ($63 Heights Arts Members) Financial aid available.

Ages 10-13
Cut and Print Rubberstamps with Helen Lardner
Wednesdays 4 - 6pm
January 14 - February 11

Design and cut your own rubber stamps and use them to create a set of handmade cards. By combining simple printing techniques with collage, students will produce a collection of cards that can be used for a variety of occasions.
$70 ($63 Heights Arts Members) Financial aid available.

AGES 13-ADULT
Mind Over Metal with Catherine Butler
Mondays 6:30-8:45pm
January 12 – February 9 (NO CLASS January 19)

A class for those with a curiosity and a desire to work with metal and found materials, and ideas about jewelry and wearable objects. We will focus on both simple cold working techniques using copper, brass, aluminum and annealed steel, and concepts about jewelry as an expressive art form. Beginners are welcome! Advanced students can challenge themselves with experimentation and new ways of approaching their own work. Check out the supply list for this class.

AGE 16 – ADULT
Fiber ARTS with Kris Barnes
Saturdays, 1 - 4pm
January 10 - February 7

A great chance to explore the fiber arts and create some wonderful treasures with many different techniques! We will be making a recycled fabrics weaving, felted beads and jewelry, and basketry including a variation on Native American pine needle basketry using wire. Beginners are welcome. Ages 16 - ADULT
Watercolor Painting with Robert Raack
Sundays 1:30 – 4:30pm
January 11 – February 8

Subjects include still life, botanical subjects and the human figure (no photographs). Class size is small, and each student is taught at his or her level of experience with the medium. Check out the supply list for this class.

Introduction to Calligraphy with Diane Q. Klann
Tuesdays 6:30 – 8:45pm
January 13 – February 10

Learn simple ways to give your documents an artistic touch. Discover design elements that you can only get by using calligraphy tools. Learn the correct way to stroke, identify fonts, copy a font style, create drop shadows and add flourishes and filigrees to your work.

“Dance, Dance, Evolution” at the Lee Road Library!

Friends of Diona Hicks…

Please stop by the Lee Road Library at 4pm, tomorrow (Wednesday 11/26) as our director Nancy Levin says a few informal words about Diona.
