Friends of Diona Hicks…

Please stop by the Lee Road Library at 4pm, tomorrow (Wednesday 11/26) as our director Nancy Levin says a few informal words about Diona.

This will be a short memorial, probably about 15 minutes. We hope to see you there.

1 Julie Brown { 12.06.08 at 6:25 pm }: I had the pleasure of meeting and befriending Diona when we were students at KSU. For those two years (2003-2005) I was very lucky to call her a friend. I never met anyone so brilliantly quick witted, warm, and fun to be with. After knowing her only a few weeks, I felt like I had known her forever. And I knew I wanted her to be a part of my life till the end of our days–which at that time, seemed long…
Sadly I fell out of touch with her once her career took off. I was still struggling for employment and Diona was busy building her new career. Finally, when I had a chance to catch my breath and try to get back in touch with her, only to read about her death in an OLC newsletter. I was stunned that someone so much alive and so full of promise could be gone. I regret that I didn’t know what had happened to her, that I missed her funeral and the chance to share my grief with others. It just didn’t seem possible that the tremendous person I knew could be gone.
