How About Some Printmaking? With Nusrat Mehdi

January 10 – February 7
This class will introduce basic tools and vocabulary of printmaking and students will be encouraged to be creative and imaginative. At the end of the five week session, having focused on the techniques of monoprinting and collagraph, the students will leave with creative prints, collaged plates and tons of enthusiasm for the art of printmaking.

Cut and Print Rubberstamps with Helen Lardner
Wednesdays 4 - 6pm
January 14 - February 11
Design and cut your own rubber stamps and use them to create a set of handmade cards. By combining simple printing techniques with collage, students will produce a collection of cards that can be used for a variety of occasions.

Mind Over Metal with Catherine Butler

A class for those with a curiosity and a desire to work with metal and found materials, and ideas about jewelry and wearable objects. We will focus on both simple cold working techniques using copper, brass, aluminum and annealed steel, and concepts about jewelry as an expressive art form. Beginners are welcome! Advanced students can challenge themselves with experimentation and new ways of approaching their own work. Check out the supply list for this class.

Fiber ARTS with Kris Barnes

A great chance to explore the fiber arts and create some wonderful treasures with many different techniques! We will be making a recycled fabrics weaving, felted beads and jewelry, and basketry including a variation on Native American pine needle basketry using wire. Beginners are welcome. Learn simple ways to give your documents an artistic touch. Discover design elements that you can only get by using calligraphy tools. Learn the correct way to stroke, identify fonts, copy a font style, create drop shadows and add flourishes and filigrees to your work.
