Teens . . . Like Rats in a Maze: The Maze Runner Trilogy
by Greg on September 12, 2010
The Maze Runner is out and The Scorch Trials will be out shortly and available at your library. Author James Dashner has just turned in the final chapter of the trilogy (tentatively titled The Death Cure) so now is the best time to hop on the Maze Runner bandwagon.
And if you’re looking for a fine series to read after finishing Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins, I can think of no better trilogy than this.
Thomas is a teenager with no past other than his name and no future except as a runner in a maze fraught with danger in the form of the unstoppable monsters called Grievers. But there is something in the maze — although he knows not what it is. Something that could mean freedom. But searching for it could also mean death.

Thomas was expected. But the next day, a girl is sent up the first girl to ever arrive in the Glade. And more surprising yet is the message she delivers.

Pub. Date: October 2010
Publisher: Delacorte Books for Young Readers
Publisher’s Summary:
Solving the Maze was supposed to be the end. No more puzzles. No more variables. And no more running. Thomas was sure that escape meant he and the Gladers would get their lives back. But no one really knew what sort of life they were going back to.
In the Maze, life was easy. They had food, and shelter, and safety . . . until Teresa triggered the end. In the world outside the Maze, however, the end was triggered long ago.
Burned by sun flares and baked by a new, brutal climate, the earth is a wasteland.
Government has disintegrated — and with it, order — and now Cranks, people covered in festering wounds and driven to murderous insanity by the infectious disease known as the Flare, roam the crumbling cities hunting for their next victim . . . and meal.
The Gladers are far from finished with running. Instead of freedom, they find themselves faced with another trial. They must cross the Scorch, the most burned-out section of the world, and arrive at a safe haven in two weeks. And WICKED has made sure to adjust the variables and stack the odds against them.
Thomas can only wonder — does he hold the secret of freedom somewhere in his mind? Or will he forever be at the mercy of WICKED?
The Death Cure (The Maze Runner Trilogy #3)

The third book in the New York Times bestselling Maze Runner series — The Death Cure is a modern classic for fans of The Hunger Games and Divergent.
Thomas knows that Wicked can’t be trusted, but they say the time for lies is over, that they’ve collected all they can from the Trials and now must rely on the Gladers, with full memories restored, to help them with their ultimate mission.
It’s up to the Gladers to complete the blueprint for the cure to the Flare with a final voluntary test.
What Wicked doesn’t know is that something’s happened that no Trial or Variable could have foreseen. Thomas has remembered far more than they think. And he knows that he can’t believe a word of what Wicked says.
The time for lies is over. But the truth is more dangerous than Thomas could ever imagine.
When will the final book to the trilogy be out?…..I think about the maze runner and the scorch trials everyday, and I have read them both three times.I made all my friends read it and they love the books too. All I really want to know is something about the last book to the trilogy, the death cure!:D
I’m glad you took the time to read the post and leave a comment and I want to appologize for the delay in approving it. I was on vacation and thought I’d set my blog up to alert me at home if somebody commented. Well it didn’t. I’m sorry about that.
I also have a bit of bad news. You’re probably in for about a year’s wait. The Scorch Trials just came out in October so The Death Cure will probably come out October 2011. Sorry about that.

I have read The Maze Runner and The Scorch Trials and I have to say I like The Maze Runner better. When I finished The Scorch Trials I though ” Wow, ten times better than The Maze Runner “. But then I really thought about it and I like The Maze Runner better. Especially the Greivers.
