Let Me In

by John Ajvide Lindqvist — translated by Ebba Segerberg

Let Me In by John Ajvide Lindqvist

Description:

It is autumn 1981 when the inconceivable comes to Blackeberg, a suburb in Sweden. The body of a teenage boy is found, emptied of blood, the murder rumored to be part of a ritual killing. Twelve-year-old Oskar is personally hoping that revenge has come at long last — revenge for the bullying he endures at school, day after day.

But the murder is not the most important thing on his mind. A new girl has moved in next door — a girl who has never seen a Rubik’s Cube before, but who can solve it at once. There is something wrong with her, though, something odd. And she only comes out at night. . . .

The Author:

John Ajvide Lindqvist is a Swedish author who grew up in Blackeberg, the setting for Let Me In. Wanting to become something awful and fantastic, he first became a conjurer, and then was a stand-up comedian for twelve years. He has also written for Swedish television. Let Me In was a bestseller in Sweden and was named Best Novel in Translation 2005 in Norway. It is being made into a major motion picture. Let Me In is Lindqvist’s first novel.

Are You Sure You Don’t Want to Read It?

It was made into a movie titled Let The Right One In. And now that movie is coming to the states. Below are a couple of the most interesting trailers about the movie. Watch them. Go ahead. They won’t bite . . . much.

Let The Right One In — Trailer 1

Let The Right One In — Trailer 2

See? How can you watch those trailers and not want the story. Sure you could wait for the movie to reach American shores . . . or you could pick up the book Let Me In at the library and get a jump on the story now.

It’s peaked my interest. How about yours?

I am reading this RIGHT NOW. its pretty good. It has some neat twists. Like the scene I read last night where Haken is trying to obtain dinner for Eli and he is in the changing room at the public pool, naked except for a ski mask. Why? Because he left his raincoat at home and he is going to make quite the bloody mess. ICK.

Hey John,

This books definitely seems to be very creepy and disturbing. I love that kind of a story. It’s a shame the cover of the book doesn’t give you a good feel for what’s inside. I hope it finds more readers.
