The RATS Mission Statement

The Readers’ Advisory Team works together to match books and readers.

• The Team collaborates to help the public find materials they want.
• The Team studies to become expert in their knowledge of genres and reading materials.
• The Team meets monthly to discuss books, study genres, and plan programs.
• The Team works as a unit drawing on all of the interests, expertise, and knowledge of its members, as well as, that of other staff.
• The Team reads widely in all genres and is responsible for book reviews, annotations, suggested reading lists, in depth genre studies and programs for staff and the public.

Each member of the team acts as a resource for the entire library staff. To support the work of the team, each agency uses reference materials and electronic databases.

The Team maintains a web presence that includes book reviews, recommended web links and topical book lists for all genres on the library’s web site.
