A Sick Day for Amos McGee

Oh…my…gawwwd this is super precious!

Amos McGee, a friendly, elderly zookeeper has the same routine every day. He gets dressed, has his oatmeal and tea, takes the bus to the zoo, and visits his very good friends there.

Amos plays chess with the elephant, runs races with the tortoise, and has plenty of fun with his other friends, penguin, rhinoceros, and the owl. But their fun is halted when Amos doesn’t make it to work one day. So, what do his animal friends do? They take the city bus and visit Amos at home!

These illustrations are so beautiful, whimsical, and just plain hilarious! I’ve read this book three times and each time I notice something that I had missed before. The tiny little mouse waits outside Amos’ house at a tiny little bus stop 🙂 How cute is that?
