Better Know a Library Staffer: Kathy

Here on the blog the other Matchmakers and I share what we are reading, watching, or listening to quite frequently, but we don’t often hear from our other staff members all over the library system. Now, we will be sharing interviews from other staff members so that you the reader can see what we’re reading/watching/listening to all over the Heights Library system!

This interview comes from Adult Services Librarian Kathy!

Read

What book are you reading at the moment? What are your thoughts on it?

Just finished reading The Firebrand and the First Lady: Portrait of a Friendship. It is a great study of the friendship between Pauli Murray (African-American social activist, lawyer, poet, writer) and Eleanor Roosevelt. Their relationship started in the early 1930s and ended with Eleanor Roosevelt’s death in 1962. The book is well written and very readable. Besides showing how the friendship developed and progressed between these two amazing women, the book also shows the injustices and mistreatment of African-Americans in the segregated South and their treatment in the North.

What kind of books do you typically read?

Mostly mysteries, but also a variety of non-fiction, novels and short stories.

Have you ever pretended to have read a book? If so, which one and why?

No.

Watch

Which do you prefer: movies or television?

Mostly I watch movies and tv series on DVD.

Have you ever binge-watched a show? If so, what was it?

I’ve binge watched episodes of Dr. Who, Elementary, Fjallbacka Murders among others.

Listen

What kind of music do you enjoy?

Musicals and music from 60s, 70s. But, I don’t listen to music a lot.

Have you found any new or new-to-you artists/bands lately?

No.

Do you listen to different music based on the seasons?

I listen to Christmas music at Christmas time.

Thanks Kathy!
