Today we read some great books about blankets! There are a lot more out there than one would think.

Our first book was:

Blanket & Bear, a Remarkable Pair

Blanket & Bear, A Remarkable Pair

Words by L. J. R. KELLY; Pictures by Yoko Tanaka

This was such a sweet little story about toys that are loved and lost, something most children can relate to.

We went on to recite an adorable rhyme using flannel blankets:

I once had a blanket.
It was fluffy and new.
I once had a blanket,
And its color was __________ (blue).

I once had a blanket,
The prettiest I’ve seen.
I once had a blanket,
And its color was ________ (green).

I once had a blanket,
Soft as a pillow.
I once had a blanket,
And its color was _______ (yellow).

I once had a blanket,

That wrapped ‘round my back.
I once had a blanket,
And its color was ________ (black).

Our next book was:

 Fly, Blanky, Fly

For the craft we made sheep with a blanket in its pocket. Click here and here for the original templates (many thanks to Sunflower Storytime for this).
