Today our storytime was all about construction!
Our first book was:
Digger, Dozer, Dumper
Hope Vestergaard (words); David Slonim (pictures)
This is a book of poetry, so I read only 2 poems at the beginning of Explorastory to set the tone for the morning.
Our next book (and 1st full story) was:
Roadwork
Sally Sutton (words); Brian Lovelock (pictures)
After some songs and fingerplays we went on to read:
The Grumpy Dump Truck
Brie Spangler (words & pictures)
The children really liked this story about a dump truck with a crabby attitude. Don’t worry, we eventually got to the bottom of why he was so surly.
For the craft, we made tool boxes out of construction paper (see what I did there? 😉 ), glue, crayons, and clip art images of tools. Inspiration for this activity came from here.
Here are a few photos.
Somebody couldn’t get enough books and grabbed this one after storytime was over! Completed tool box GREAT job!
