What is an Educator Card?

This special card is offered exclusively to educators who live and/or work in an educational setting in Ohio. It allows cardholders to supplement their curriculum with an abundant, ever-changing supply of books on a range of subjects and reading levels.

Am I eligible for an Educator Card?

Any educator who lives and/or works in Ohio is eligible for an Educator Card. This includes K-12 classroom teachers in public and private schools, daycare center teachers, and home school teachers.

How do I apply for an Educator Card?

To apply for an Educator Card, you will need to appear in person at a Heights Libraries branch with the following items:

  • Photo ID (e.g., a driver’s license)
  • Proof of current address
  • Proof of educator status (school/employee ID badge, pay stub from school employment, home school certification letter from the appropriate authority, such as the CHUH Board of Education or the Ohio Department of Education)

Extended check out periods for the following CHUH-owned juvenile materials:

  • Books, audio books, music CDs:
    • 6 weeks
  • DVDs/Blu-Rays and Magazines
    • 2 weeks

Request books on a given subject by calling (216) 932-3600 and asking for the Youth Services Department.
