Things have been busy in the Training Department this fall! In addition to teaching classes in the computer classroom at the Lee Road branch, our Technology Trainers have begun teaching Computer Basics classes at our Coventry, Noble and University Heights branches! This is the first time that technology classes have been taught at all four branches in a single quarter. Why the change you may wonder. In the past technology classes have been taught at branches periodically, but it was challenging because the branches do not have dedicated classroom spaces with ten teaching computers. In the last few months Heights Libraries has purchased a Mobile Technology Classroom that allows the library to increase community access to free computer classes.

The Mobile Technology Lab is a computer classroom on wheels! It allows Heights Libraries to expand computer class instruction at branches and in the Cleveland Heights – University Heights community.  The mobile lab is comprised of ten student laptops, ten student iPads, mice, a projector and a portable projection screen. With the mobile technology lab the Training Department is capable of teaching any of our current computer class offerings in the community.

One comment on “Expanding Our Reach: Mobile Technology Classroom

  1. I believe that the expansion of computer classes to all other library branches is a great idea and I support it. As I look at the hours that the classes are being taught and I am thinking about those of us who are working at the times that the classes are offered. I can honestly admit that I prefer the smaller library branches to Lee Road. So, if at all possible I would love to see both Noble and Coventry library offer computer class at 6:00pm or 7:00 pm in the evening. I love both libraries very much and I utilize them very often. Thank you in advance for taking time out of your busy schedule to adhere to this matter.

    Sincerely,

    Latonya Jones
