Fall “To Be Read” Pile

Confession – my “to be read” (TBR) pile is very long. I currently have 20 books checked out and 15 on hold. And that doesn’t include my longer list that I haven’t taken action on yet! That one includes teen, adult, and children’s books and is close to 300 titles long.  Working at the library I see new books to order, that are on order, or are on the shelf to add to that list every day. The list never ends! Below is a list of children’s middle grade chapter book titles I’ve added most recently. You can order any of the books for check out at your nearest Heights Libraries branch!

The Line Tender by Kate Allen  |  Beverly, Right Here by Kate DiCamillo

The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise by Dan Gemeinhart | For Black Girls Like Me by Mariama J. Lockington

More to the Story by Hena Khan  |  Queen of the Sea by Dylan Meconis

A Good Kind of Trouble by Lisa Moore Ramée |  Look Both Ways: A Tale Told in 10 Blocks by Jason Reynolds

Guts by Raina Telgemeier  |  Stargazing by Jen Wang

In creating this list I’ve noticed some similarities.

Most are:

  • Fiction
  • Chapter books/graphic novels
  • Realistic

And all, except possibly one, feature female main characters.  I’m excited to dive into the lives of the characters represented but I may have to expand my winter TBR to include some more variety. Now I’m curious, what middle grade titles are out there with male main characters? What nonfiction, fantasy, and poetry is being published?

New blog post ideas! Don’t worry, I’ll report back 🙂
