Fall

As the last of the leaves fell from the trees, we gathered a bunch to make leaf art and do a storytime about this fun season.

Books:

Leaf Man

“Leaf Man” by Lois Ehlert

I Know It's Autumn

“I Know It’s Autumn” by Eileen Spinelli

Fall Leaves Fall!

“Fall Leaves Fall” by Zoe Hall

The Busy Little Squirrel

“The Busy Little Squirrel” by Nancy Tafuri

We also did an action rhyme about fall, sung to the tune of “The Wheels on the Bus”

“The Leaves on the Trees”

The leaves on the trees are orange and red (open and close fingers)

orange and red, orange and red, orange and red

The leaves on the trees are orange and red

All through the town.

The leaves on the trees come tumbling down (make motions of leaves falling)

Tumbling down, tumbling down, tumbling down

The leaves on the trees come tumbling down

All through the town.

The leaves on the ground go swish, swish, swish (crouch low and make swishing movement)

Swish swish swish, swish swish swish

The leaves on the ground go swish, swish, swish

All through the town.

For our art project I took the aforementioned collected leaves and had the kids paint them in fall colors with a small paintbrush. They then used the leaf as a stamp to make prints on colored paper.
