And apple is it’s name-o

The Apple Tree

Way up high in the apple tree

Two red apples smiled at me

I shook that tree as hard as I could

And down came the apples

They were mmmm mmmm good!

Little Apples

One little, two little, three little apples

Four little, five little, six little apples

Seven little, eight little, nine little apples

All fell to the ground

I’m a Juicy Orange (tune: I’m a Little Teapot)

I’m a juicy orange

Round as can be

A big juicy orange

Hanging on a tree

If you want some juice

Just pick me

Poke in a straw

And squeeze, squeeze, squeeze!

Picking Up Apples

Picking up apples, put ‘em in the basket

Picking up apples, put ‘em in the basket

Picking up apples, put ‘em in the basket

Way down yonder by the apple tree

Pumpkins…way down yonder by the pumpkin patch

Peaches…way down yonder by the peachy tree

Strawberries…way down yonder by the berry patch

Five Bananas

Five bananas in the grocery store

A boy bought one, and then there were four

Four bananas,  yellow as can be

A girl bought one, and then there were three

Three bananas,  sweet and juicy, too

A boy bought one, and then there were two

Two bananas,  ripened by the sun

A girl bought one, and then there was one

One banana,  last of the bunch

A boy bought and ate it for his lunch

No bananas in the grocery store

Hey Mr. Grocer, please order some more!

Big and plump!

Art Activity:

We made paper plate watermelon shakers today. I used a coloring page image of a watermelon glued to each side to make it more representational for the very young children in the group, but this is optional. Kids can also color the shakers freehand. Suitable coloring pages can be found in a Google image search. Here are the directions:

1) Color the watermelons

2)Cut both watermelons out

3)Fold paper plate in half

4)Glue watermelons to each side

5)Put in beads, popcorn kernels, or small pasta to create shaker

6) Staple paper plate closed with curved edges lining up.
