The Cleveland Heights-University Heights Public Library has once again received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals.

Heights Libraries earned the award for its 2015 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment.

“The award is great news for us and for the taxpayers in our community,” says Heights Libraries Director Nancy Levin. “They can rest assured we have been spending their money wisely, and will continue to do so.”

According to Frank C. Gambosi, director of finance of the City of Bedford, member of the executive board of the national Government Finance Officers Association, and past board president of the Ohio GFOA, “Heights Libraries’ receipt of this award reflects the professionalism, leadership, and commitment of the members of the library board, represented by President Ron Holland, as well as many hours of hard work and dedication by Director Nancy Levin, Fiscal Officer Deborah Herrmann, and Deputy Fiscal Officer Amy Gerson.”

“Less than 5 percent of all public entities in the United States and Canada receive the award,” says Gambosi, who added, “The GFOA hopes that this award to the Cleveland Heights-University Heights Public Library will serve as an example and encourage others to strive for the same high standards in their own financial reporting.”
