Today it seems as if few residents know that prior to being named University Heights, the city was once known as Idlewood Village. Incorporated in 1908, it would go on to be renamed in 1925 when John Carroll University moved to the city. Please enjoy these photos of the exterior and interior of what may have been the original government building. And if you would like more background on the history of the city, please visit the History of University Heights. We will also include an old photo that was discovered in the box with these other photos, and which was most likely taken in University Heights as well. If you know more about Huge’s Sohio Service Station, please write a reply below or contact the Lee Road library!

As always, if you like these photos, please check out our Ohio Memory page which is full of photos such as these and information on the Cleveland Heights-University Heights Public Library and surrounding cities.
