Activity:  What shape represents love?  A heart!  We talked about the heart shape and made it with our hands by saying:

I put my hands together, this is how I start;

I curve my fingers right around and I can make a heart!

We then talked about how to draw a heart and cut it out of paper.

Song:

(To the tune of B-I-N-G-O)

There is a shape it stands for love

And “heart” is its name-o

And “heart is its name-o!

Art:  We gave children all sorts of art supplies including paper, scissors, glitter, jewels and glue and had the children make a card for someone that they love.  They worked on drawing and cutting out heart shapes.  To encourage letter recognition, we also gave them alphabet stickers so that they could print out the name of the person they were making the card for.
