Today we read some fun books about monsters! Our first book was:

 Mostly Monsterly

Mostly Monsterly

Words by Tammi Sauer; Pictures by Scott Magoon

We went on to sing “There’s a Spider on the Floor” by Raffi, except I changed it to “There’s a Monster on the Floor”. I used our very scary monster puppet with this song and the children loved to see my reactions whenever the monster moved up my leg to my stomach, and on my head!

Then we danced the Monster Pokey (aka the Hokey Pokey).

Next we did a “Five Little Monsters” flannel rhyme, which I found here.

Five Little Monsters (author unknown)

Five little monsters sitting on the floor.
The first one said, “Let’s knock on someone’s door.”
The second on said, “Let’s act a little scary.”
The third one said, “Why are we so hairy?”
The fourth one said, “I hear a funny sound.”
The fifth one said, “There’s no one else around.”
Then “WHOOSH” went the wind and “EEK!” someone said
So five little monsters ran under the bed.

Our second book this morning was:

Jeremy Draws a Monster

The children made confetti monsters for the craft portion of the day. Here are a few photos:

Inspiration for this craft came from here.
