What is the Sweetest Taboo?

After reading the erotic novel The Sweetest Taboo by Risque made me ponder many things:

What is the sweetest taboo?

Since there is no such thing as a perfect person, job, or life, don’t we all settle in one way or another?

What is more important: obligation or having your heart’s desire?

Do you risk consistency and stability (of sorts) for a slim chance to get what (or who) you really want?

What benefits, if any, can occur from sharing your secret darkness, the place where your shame and embarrassment reside?

When is it ever a good time to wear patent leather cat suits?

Where can you find a patent leather cat suit?

Is this goddess headed to the pantheon of unemployment after posting this review?

But first things first.

Yuri and Drea are childhood friends who have settled. Yuri chose to marry a man she doesn’t love but settled for because he was there when she needed to be loved by somebody.  Now Yuri is torn between, Jeff her husband, who she feels she owes her world to or Britt, the man she has loved and lusted over since high school, who has in the past taken advantage of her love, and who she is having a hot and heavy affair with.

Drea is married to a film maker who gave her financial security, however in return, he makes her participate in auditioning the actors in his films. The downside is that these films are the kind of films that come in brown paper and can get two for the low price of $9.99. (And no my friends, these auditions are not table reads.  Nudge nudge. Wink wink.)  Nassir, one of the actors, gives Drea an unforgettable audition and a very different outlook on life.

Their secret lives are unraveling and when all of the truth comes out, it’s good, bad and ugly.

Did I also mention that this book is an erotic novel?  This is not for the faint hearted or the easily offended. There was one scene where I think I may have channeled a bad actress playing a southern belle ( “My, my kind sir, I do declare, I think I have been overcome by the vapors…”)

The plot is wild, the descriptions are steamy, and the characters are crazy. I suggest you read this novel with a glass of water. And maybe some smelling salts.
