Shea Rigsby is a sports report at Walker University in Texas, and she has been a Walker fan ever since she could remember. Her best friend Lucy’s dad, Clive Carr is the head football coach, and their team has an excellent reputation. Shea realizes she’s in a bit of a rut. She wants to write more, she has a boyfriend but it isn’t going anywhere, and she only notices this when tragedy strikes the Carr family when Mrs. Carr passes away. This sends Lucy into a reevaluation of her life. She dumps her boyfriend and starts dating a big time football player, interviews for a new job, and seems to be getting her life to where she wants it to be…..but, she also notices that her relationship with Coach Carr is changing, in a way that she wasn’t expecting.
