Class 6.05: Cookies

A computer cookie isn’t a sweet treat, but rather a simple computer file made of text.

The information stored in cookies can be used to personalize the user’s experience when using a website. A website can use cookies to find out if someone has visited a website before and record information about what they did.

Cookies can be a privacy concern and over time can accumulate and slow down your browsing. To clear cookies:

  1. At the top right, click the three dots button .
  2. Click More tools and then Clear browsing data.
  3. At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time.
  4. Next to “Cookies and other site data” and “Cached images and files,” check the boxes.
  5. Click Clear data.
