The Apple Song (tune: Bingo)

I know a food that’s good to eat

And apple is it’s name-o

A P P L E

A P P L E

A P P L E

And apple is it’s name-o!

The Apple Tree

Way up high in the apple tree

Two red apples smiled at me

I shook that tree as hard as I could

And down came the apples

They were mmmm mmmm good!

Little Apples

One little, two little, three little apples

Four little, five little, six little apples

Seven little, eight little, nine little apples

All fell to the ground

I’m a Juicy Orange (tune: I’m a Little Teapot)

I’m a juicy orange

Round as can be

A big juicy orange

Hanging on a tree

If you want some juice

Just pick me

Poke in a straw

And squeeze, squeeze, squeeze!

Picking Up Apples

Picking up apples, put ’em in the basket

Picking up apples, put ’em in the basket

Picking up apples, put ’em in the basket

Way down yonder by the apple tree

Pumpkins…way down yonder by the pumpkin patch

Peaches…way down yonder by the peachy tree

Strawberries…way down yonder by the berry patch

Five Bananas

Five bananas in the grocery store

A boy bought one, and then there were four

Four bananas,  yellow as can be

A girl bought one, and then there were three

Three bananas,  sweet and juicy, too

A boy bought one, and then there were two

Two bananas,  ripened by the sun

A girl bought one, and then there was one

One banana,  last of the bunch

A boy bought and ate it for his lunch

No bananas in the grocery store

Hey Mr. Grocer, please order some more!

The Watermelon Patch Song (tune: Are You Sleeping?)

Watermelon   (make a circle with your arms

Watermelon

On the vine   (Curve hands and arms beside body)

On the vine

Sweet and red and juicy    (rub your tummy)

Sweet and red and juicy

Please be mine   (Palms together as though pleading)

Please be mine!

Watermelon

Watermelon

Thump, thump, thump   (Make a thumping movement w/ thumb and middle finger)

Thump, thump, thump

I think you are ready   (Point, resting finger on your temple)

I think you are ready

Big and plump   (make a circle w/ your arms)

Big and plump!

Art:

We made cute, simple watermelon shakers.  Each child received a paper plate, which was then folded in half.  We colored the outer rim of the plate green, the inside of the plate pink, and drew in some black seeds to make our watermelon.  Each child then received some beans (but you can also use pasta or anything else that makes noise) to put inside their plate.  The plate was folded and then the two sides were stapled.  Our homemade watermelon tambourine was ready and we were ready to shake!
