Lee Road Library
Located just south of some of the area’s best restaurants and entertainment venues, the Lee Road branch is a mecca for young and old alike, with ample free customer parking in the back and across the street. It serves not only as the main library for the system but also as the administrative headquarters.
The first floor is the hub of activity. The first area you encounter is the materials return and self-checkout area. A separate photocopy room also houses a public fax machine and copy machines for our customers’ convenience. Our A/V room holds a myriad of wonders from books on CD and downloadable media, to electronic devices, to a huge classical and contemporary music collection.
The teen room offers a bank of computers, a quiet study room, a teen collection including anime and graphic novels, and a variety of work spaces and lounge furnishings.
The first thing to welcome a toddler into the children’s area is a colorful floor-to-ceiling round mural of the book cover of Good Night Moon and other long-loved titles in children’s literature. The collection includes a wide variety of age-appropriate puzzles, books, games, and other toys that tickle the child’s imagination and help them to develop a love of reading.
The second floor houses the adult periodicals, Fiction, and Non-fiction. In addition, there are six small group study rooms available for individuals or small groups. There is a large, glass-walled quiet study room furnished with comfortable chairs and some work tables. Cell phones and other devices are not permitted in this space.
And across the street is The Heights Knowledge and Innovation Center, or HKIC, a flexible 4,000-square-foot space designed to support the technological and workspace needs of local businesses, nonprofits, and individuals.
