Adult Services Librarian at the Noble Road Branch
This Adult Services Librarian position will primarily focus on outreach and maintaining and growing the library’s partnerships with outside organizations. In addition, this Adult Services Librarian will be asked to work with their colleagues to provide reference help to customers, as well as develop library programs. Candidates must have excellent skills in general areas of research, customer service, problem-solving and teamwork.
Librarians also instruct in the use of technology and library equipment and look for service needs in our community. They also act as the person in charge of the building on some evenings and weekends.
We work closely with the Cleveland Heights-University Heights communities to advance the goals of the Library and our community.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in either library science or a relevant field, or equivalent education, knowledge and experience in service.
- Ability to create new, innovative services and programs in the Heights area.
- Ability to effectively provide excellent customer service to diverse populations.
- Empathy such as ability to build rapport, listen, understand customer and coworkers’ needs, and ability to see multiple perspectives.
- Knowledgeable of reference resources and have the desire to help customers of all age groups when and where they need assistance.
- Excellent technology skills and aptitude for helping customers with computer programs such as Microsoft Office and web-based programs such as Overdrive eMedia. Experience using SIRSI, Bibliocommons, Ancestry.com, census data and other databases is preferable.
- Exercise good judgment as an In-Charge person of the building as needed.
- Valid Driver’s license and transportation required.
- Public library experience preferred.
