Library accepting applications for new board trustee

The Cleveland Heights-University Heights Public Library will be accepting applications for a new board member beginning October 17, with applications due November 14.

“Our library is such an integral part of our community,” says Heights Libraries Director Nancy Levin. “Serving on the library board is one of the best ways a citizen can serve the Heights community, by helping guide the vision of the public library.”

Library board members serve seven-year terms, and any Cleveland Heights or University Heights resident is eligible to apply. Each board member serves as president during his or her last year on the board. Current president Rick Ortmeyer rolls off in December, creating the current board opening. Current vice president Ron Holland will serve as president in 2017.

Applications will be available October 17 through November 13 at the Heights Libraries Lee Road branch, 2345 Lee Road, Cleveland Heights. Applications must be returned to the Cleveland Heights-University Heights Public Library administrative office no later than Monday, November 14 by 5 p.m. The office is located at 2345 Lee Road, Cleveland Heights. You may also email your completed application to Nancy Levin at director@heightslibrary.org.

New this year, prospective applicants are strongly encouraged to attend an informational meeting about library board service on Thursday, November 10, at 7:00 pm, at the Lee Road Branch, 2340 Lee Road Boardroom, located on the second floor of the HKIC building. RSVP to Nancy Levin (216) 932-3600, ext. 1240.
