Humorous Horror: 10 Recommended Horror Comedies

by | Oct 9, 2024 | Adult, Horror, Matchmakers, Movies

Spooky season is here! One of my favorite traditions in October is watching horror movies but I understand that not everyone loves to be terrified. Below are 10 horror comedies recommended for getting in the Halloween spirit and still be able to sleep at night. Beware that these movies generally are still recommended for an adult audience as some do not skimp on the gore as well as the laughs.

  • Scare Me
Two writers get snowed in while on separate writing retreats and decide to spend the night telling each other scary stories.
  • One Cut of the Dead
A film crew runs into problems while filming a zombie movie in an old Japanese factory.
  • Lisa Frankenstein
A silly 80s influenced comedy about a loner and her re-animated corpse crush finding love and happiness while navigating the perils of being a teenager.
  • Ready or Not
Grace is marrying into a board game dynasty family. To survive her wedding night, she’ll have to play to win. A gory but very funny cat and mouse chase.
  • Beetlejuice
A deceased couple hire a trickster spirit to drive out the thoroughly annoying family that has moved into their house.
  • Frankenweenie
A young boy embarks on a science experiment to re-animate his beloved dog. This and Beetlejuice would work for a family movie night.
  • The Blackening
A group of friends rent a cabin in the woods for a Juneteenth celebration where they encounter a sinister game.
  • Renfield
Tired of the abuse piled on him by his boss Dracula, Renfield joins a support group and learns to stand up for himself and regain his confidence.
  • Little Shop of Horrors
The original Roger Corman movie that inspired the movie musical about an awkward young man cultivating a plant that he finds out too late is carnivorous.
  • John Dies at the End
Based on the book by Jason Pargin (written under the name David Wong), a new drug can send users across time and space but there’s a problem: They don’t always come back human. A wild ride of a movie for those who like a little science fiction mixed with their horror.
