Feel like the season has passed you by, you’ve missed out on summer fun, and there’s no time left for travel or excitement? I disagree. Ok, maybe you didn’t plan ahead for that Hawaiian cruise or the walking tour of Tuscany, and instead you stayed home and read in your backyard hammock. You’re still in luck. The Adult Summer Reading program has another month to go (it ends on August 19), and you can cash in on all the books (novels and non-fiction) that your pored over while sipping lemonade. Those books-on-CD you listened to on that road trip with the kids to Auntie’s lake house? Those count too. Did I mention that there are prizes involved?
There’s a two-for-one option as well – immerse yourself in the narrative of Ghost Train to the Eastern Star by travel writer Paul Theroux and then come to the book discussion on Wednesday, August 8, at 7:00 p.m. at Lee Road. You’ll get an entry blank for reading the book and an extra one for attending the program. Copies of the book are available at the Lee Road branch – just ask for one at the second floor reference desk.
Those prizes I mentioned? You can win weekly goodie bags as well as being eligible for one of five grand prizes at the end of the summer: a Kindle Fire HD 8 tablet, a package of international cuisine-related gift cards worth $100, or one of three Roku Express+ devices. You know the drill – the more times you enter, the more chances you have to win.
Books take you places, even if you never leave the Heights, and you can magically transform your love of reading into entries blanks for (yes) prizes. Join the adventure.
