Inspired by Hitchcock’s film Strangers on a Train, Steve Cavanagh’s suspense mystery Kill for Me, Kill for You introduces two women who meet at a grief counseling circle, form a bond over drinks and shared trauma, and then agree to swap the murdering of their most hated enemy so as to confound the law and avoid prison. Above all, they will each have revenge and closure after they kill their newfound friend’s monster, the evil men who had brutally extinguished their loved ones.
Of course, nothing is that simple here, or this would be a short novella and not a thoroughly enjoyable train wreck. It’s the most enjoyable and twisty suspense mystery that I have read in a long time. For those who like legal thrillers, he also has an Eddie Flynn series that is well received, and the 8th one was just published this year.
