Read, Renew, Repeat with the 2024 Adult Summer Reading program!

by | Jul 3, 2024 | Adult, Fiction, Horror, Matchmakers, Romance, Thrillers

Today the Matchmakers team welcomes Adult Summer Reading coordinator Jen! Jen writes:

Summer Reading is in full swing, but it’s not too late to join the challenge for a chance to win great prizes, including our iPad Grand Prize!

Earn raffle tickets and enter prize drawings right from your device. Register at heightslibrary.beanstack.org or download the Beanstack app, available for iOS and Android (site name: “Heights Libraries OH”).

Between June 1 and August 10, participate by logging your reading, writing reviews, and attending programs. Read whatever you like, but if you’re looking for suggestions, check out these picks from our Summer Readers:

Our readers are falling for Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton series. If you love Regency romances that are as witty as they are steamy and a full cast of well-developed characters, you might too. Start with The Duke and I.

Looking for a contemporary romantic comedy? Ashley Herring Blake’s Bright Falls trilogy might be for you. Blake finds the balance of spicy and empathetic, creating lovable characters and realistically portraying emotional struggles. Delilah Green Doesn’t Care is the first in this LGBTQ series..

If fast-paced psychological suspense is more your speed, consider novels by Freida McFadden. McFadden leads a dual life: in addition to being a top-selling author, she’s a doctor who treats brain disorders. Take your pick of her intricately plotted thrillers but beware of her unreliable narrators. Our Summer Readers have devoured Never Lie, The Housemaid, The Inmate, and The Teacher.

Summer isn’t just for beach reads. If you’d prefer literary historical horror fiction, Tananarive Due’s The Reformatory could be your next great read. Set in Jim Crow Florida with nuanced characters and well-placed twists, this heart-wrenching novel incorporates supernatural elements to take an unflinching look at racism.
