Class 5.02: Selecting an ISP (Internet Service Provider)

An Internet Service Provider (ISP) is a company that provides Internet connections and services to individuals and organizations. For a monthly fee, ISPs provide computer users with a connection to the Internet.

Many phone and cable providers offer internet service as well as phone and/or cable service. These services can be bundled together for a lower price than paying for each separately.

In many areas, there are only 1 or 2 available ISPs. Make sure to compare prices, speeds, bundling options, and specials deals before making a decision. ISPs may charge an additional rental fee for necessary equipment.
