TV Shows You Will Fall For

After a record breaking heat wave earlier this week that closed many schools, (that never happened in my day!) it finally feels as though Fall might be just around the corner. So after you grab that pumpkin spice latte and an apple fritter at Patterson’s why not cozy up with some great tv shows that will keep you guessing and highly entertained!

Detective Inspector Jimmy Perez leads his fine team as they try to solve murders and other crimes in Shetland. This is a favorite of mine because of the cast, the well written mysteries, and the gorgeous scenery. The fourth season is due out on DVD in October and I’m definitely on the library’s waiting list. Better still, the show is based on a series of novels by Ann Cleeves so you can also read them.

Along the same lines, I cannot tell enough people to watch Justified. U.S. Marshall Raylan Givens is forced to relocate to his hometown in rural Kentucky. While he might hate the idea, it’s the perfect setting for one of the best criminal shows ever created (in my humble opinion). The writing is full of wry wit, sarcasm, and each of the characters are fully developed and interesting. The lines are clear as to who is good and bad, but that doesn’t ruin the suspense. And I bet you will even find yourself trying to justify some of the “bad” characters’ actions. Starring the underrated and steely blue-eyed Timothy Olyphant this is one you’ll start binging on before you know it.

Abbi and Ilana are the perfect odd couple as they make their way through the trials and tribulations of being a 20-something in Broad City. And while Brooklyn Nine Nine may be set in a squad room, the episodes are more about the high jinks that the detectives get involved in than the seriousness of solving the cases. Both are fresh, fun takes on old themes that will keep you laughing until winter arrives. A can’t miss according to my co-workers is Atlanta. Its colorful cast of characters find themselves in a series of improbable situations as everyone just tries to get by and get through life.

There are loads of shows to enjoy, so I’m just going to leave this list here for all of you. I asked a bunch of staff members and we’ve got a little something for everyone. Start ordering some DVDs and pull those blankets out of the closet!
