There are NO COVID TESTS available at any branch until further notice.

The kits, the Abbott BinaxNOW Rapid COVID-19 Antigen At-Home Test Kit, were provided by The Ohio Department of Health. Governor Mike DeWine’s goal is to make these rapid testing kits available and accessible in every Ohio county and Ohio’s public libraries, including Heights Libraries, will play a critical role.

According to the Ohio Library Council, “Testing alone is not going to end the pandemic, but public libraries can help make the kits easily accessible to their communities and fight COVID-19.”

To use the kit, customers must have access to the following:

  • Windows or Mac/Apple laptop with a webcam (or a desktop computer with an adjustable/ moveable webcam), microphone, and speaker.
  • An Apple phone/tablet or an Android phone/tablet.
  • An email address.
  • An internet connection.

During Library business hours, customers may request a test at a designated desk inside the building (this will vary by branch), or over the phone for curbside pick-up.

Coventry Branch: (216) 321-3400
Lee Road Branch: (216) 932-3600
Noble Branch: (216) 291-5665
University Heights Branch: (216) 321-4700

Library staff cannot offer guidance or assistance with test taking, and customers may not take the test in the library buildings; they must do so off-site.

  1. Are free COVID-19 test-at-home still available at the Cleveland Heights library? How soon will I have a result? I have no symptoms but I am going to a location that requires a negative result.

  2. Hi, Agustin! The test takes about 20-30 minutes total. You need an internet questions, a camera, and audio. A tester will walk you through the procedure onscreen, then email you your results. When you pick up your test, we will give you an instruction sheet.

  3. Hi! Are tests still available for pickup, and will they be available in mid-July?

  4. Hello! Yes, they are still available, and will be for quite some time. You are good to go! 🙂

  5. Hello, do you still provide the free rapid test in Oct? Do I need an appointment for picking up the kit? Many thanks!

  6. Hello, Denise! At the moment, we are out of the rapid test at all branches. Please call any branch at the end of this week to see if they have been restocked.

  7. I don’t own a smartphone nor an ipad/ tablet. Why is that needed? For what purpose does the company require a smartphone or :”tablet” ONLY, that a laptop computer can’t also do?

  8. Hi, Tasha! We will not have any tests until further notice. We are waiting to hear from the State of Ohio if/when we will get more. We will post on our social media if/when we get more. Stay safe!
