Mystery, History & Wine = an Engaging read

Do you enjoy wine? Check! Are you interested in American History? Check! Would you like to read a great mystery series? Check!  I have the perfect suggestion for you. How about trying Ellen Crosby’s  wine country series which now totals 6 books beginning with The Merlot Murders?

Each one of her stories is set in the Virginia wine country and  there is a little  history, some educational wine lore and an engaging heroine who has more than her share of romantic difficulties. Crosby will make you feel as if you are in the vineyards with her characters trying to save the latest crop from whatever natural disaster is currently affecting the area. And when they go down to the wine cellar to open a barrel and sample a new varietal of wine, you can almost taste the raspberry or currant undertones and experience the bouquet or complexity of the drink  just as if you were at a wine tasting.

Crosby’s books are fun for the oenophile but also will appeal to those who just want a good fast paced mystery set in an elegant location. If you get hooked on this wine country mystery, you can also drink in the Nadia Gordon wine mystery series set in Napa Valley, the Michelle Scott wine lover’s mystery series also set in California or Peter Mayle’s new wine mystery series set in Provence. You may even discover a new wine to try!
