You might recall that in the past two years, we’ve hosted a “tournament” of sorts, with voters selecting their favorite picture books in a series of daily rounds. We call it “Picture Book Madness,” because we use a bracket format like March Madness does, and we hold the tournament around the same time. (See what we’re doing, there?)
This is one of my favorite programs each year, and I am especially excited about a twist that we’ve added this time around. In the past, I’ve scoured through lists of classic and favorite picture books, and we’ve pitted many well-known books against each other. This year, we decided to compile a list of our favorite recently published picture books. These are books you may have read and loved; some will be familiar, many will be totally new to you. All were published in the last five years, and we really love all of them.
Another new thing we’re trying this year is ONLINE VOTING! Here on the blog, we will post the two contenders of the day (each weekday for a little over a month) and you will be able to vote in the comments section. You can also vote in person at any of our branches.
