Snakes

Books:

“Mouse Count” by Ellen Stoll Walsh
“I Need a Snake” by Lynne Jonell, illustrated by Petra Mathers
“Opposnakes” by Salina Yoon.  This book inspired wonderful discussion as I asked the children, “What will happen on the next page?” and “What is the snake doing?”  The children loved this book.
Other wonderful books about snakes:
“Rattlesnake Dance” by Jim Arnosky
“The Day Jimmy’s Boa Ate the Wash” by Trinka Hakes Noble
Art Projects:  Snakes were made by cutting a long spiral from a paper plate.  I string was attached to the very middle where the snakes head was drawn.  The children then decorated their snakes.
