Whatta Book! The Littlest Pirate King

Ahoy mateys!  Today, September 19th, is International Talk Like a Pirate Day. Inspired by the satisfaction one gets from a well-throated “YAAAARRRRR”, today is celebrated by many people who love to carry a parrot on their shoulder and tell silly pirate jokes such as “Would you like to buy some pirate corn?  It’s cheap: only a buck-an-ear!”

The library has a plethora of pirate lore and trunks of pirate book treasure but one recent graphic novel really scuttles the rest.  The Littlest Pirate King tells the haunting story of the cursed crew of the Flying Dutchman, a band of undead pirates seeking relief from their miserable existence.  Every attempt to wreck their ship would be ruined by a divine wave carrying them to safety.  Any raid led on a living vessel would reward them with booty that would only remind them of life’s pleasures they could never again experience.  Every cursed day was worse than the last until the crew came across a helpless baby boy who they decide to adopt.  Can a living boy survive among the dead?  Will he bring them an end to their curse?  Reserve a copy and find out!
