Modern operating systems use a graphical user interface or GUI. Users interact with the operating system by clicking icons, buttons, and menus.
The three most common operating systems are:
Microsoft’s Windows operating system is used on 70% of the world’s computers.
Apple’s Mac operating system is used on around 17% of the world’s computers.
Google’s Android operating system is used on over 72% of mobile devices. Google’s Chrome OS is used on a small, but growing number of computers.
There are differences between all of these operating systems.
